On behalf of the Foresight Center, Haap Consulting conducted a study called “The Future of Long-Term Care”, which was one of the Foresight Center’s research directions for 2021. The aim of the study is to find out the development prospects of long-term care in Estonia, to provide an overview of the most important trends and to analyze possible other factors that may affect care in the future.
In the final report of the study, we gave an overview of the methodology, European trends and the need for help, as well as the organization of care in Estonia. In the report we used the examples of Netherlands and Germany as case studies. We similarly conducted expert interviews, focus groups and a nationwide survey. Based on the analysis, we proposed different future scenarios for the possible directions of long-term care. Our work focused primarily on the challenges of long-term care for the elderly, but to some extent also addressed the broader challenges of caring for people with disabilities.
