Nordic Armoury OÜ received €122,622 in support from KIK to improve resource efficiency, with the aim of making the production of metal products more precise, flexible and sustainable. The support came from KIK’s resource efficiency measure for companies, which aims to increase companies’ resource and energy efficiency and help manufacturing companies use natural resources more sustainably.

Nordic Armoury’s project focuses on equipment that makes it possible to carry out a larger number of machining operations with a single setup. In practice, this means that the workpiece does not need to be repeatedly repositioned between different production stages. The equipment purchased through the project helps carry out operations such as milling, turning and other machining processes without changing the position of the workpiece. As a result, material use improves, the finish and precision of completed parts increase, and energy consumption per product unit decreases.
In resource efficiency projects, it is important to identify whether there is a very specific change in the production process. Support is not applied for simply to purchase new equipment, but to ensure that production uses less material, less energy or achieves a better result with the same resource input. In Nordic Armoury’s case, the project focused on increasing production precision and efficiency: fewer repositioning steps, better material use, a higher-quality final result and lower energy consumption per product unit.
For KIK’s resource efficiency support for companies, an important basis for the application is a resource audit. It helps assess the company’s current production process and identify which investment can lead to resource savings, energy efficiency or improved resource productivity. Fortunately, simpler resource audits can now also be prepared in-house, meaning that companies do not necessarily need to invest heavily in external auditor services to carry out this process.
