Marleen Pedjasaar

Marleen Pedjasaar is experienced with qualitative research methods and analysis, being a social scientist by education. A skilled moderator, she will help you understand your clients, target group or partners better through focus group or individual interviews. Strategic thinking and communication is her strength as a consultant and she will help you and your team ask the right questions when working on a (new) strategy.

Karl Haljasmets

Karl Haljasmets earned his master’s degree in 2015 with a European Commission full-ride scholarship from the Central European University and Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Pompeu Fabra University) joint programme in Public Policy. Previously, he graduated in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Government and Politics from the University of Tartu. He has also furthered his education at TU Dortmund and George Mason University, where he studied Economics. Throughout the years, Karl’s hobby has been journalism and in 2009 he was nominated for the European Young Journalist Award.

To date, Karl has 10 years of experience in raising funds for research and product development projects. He has managed to secure more thatn 40 million euros in grants from various European and Estonian funds for his clients. Karl mainly focuses on project management and projects related to the energy sector and development of new technologies.

Laura Kalda

Laura Kalda’s favourite topic is social impact. Laura has previous experience in strategic consulting as a portfolio manager at the Good Deed Foundation. In addition, Laura has worked as a project manager at Statistics Estonia and as a project manager and advisor at the University of Tartu.

Age Toomla

Age Toomla has graduated with a MA in Comparative Politics from The University of Tartu. She has prior work experience from both NGOs and government agencies. She has considerable experience in policy making, programme development and project management. She strongly believes that in-depth knowledge is an important prerequisite for making smarter decisions.

Project Manager
Katrin Olt

Katrin Olt graduated with a MA in Theology (Religious Anthropology) from the University of Tartu in 2012.

She has worked as a teacher, policy maker, programme and project manager in education, youth and social sector. She has also contributed to the activities run for young people as a volunteer. In addition, she has been involved in the IP industry. Katrin is adept at leading and managing people and processes. She puts effort into building and developing relationships and bringing out the best in cooperation. She has a keen eye for detail, and she is interested in the interplays between both policies and societal factors and in their connections to economic growth, welfare increase and personal growth of people. Katrin takes great delight in designing and moderating discussions. She is an attentive listener and an influential speaker. Due to the importance that Katrin gives to meaningful participation, she was given an award for excellence in public engagement by the State Chancellery in 2010.

In Haap, Katrin works as an analyst and project manager.

Analyst
Ly Lõhmus

Ly Lõhmus has a master’s degree in social anthropology from the University of Kent. As part of his thesis, he studied the environmental crisis and future visions of environmentalists in more detail, and he also wrote his bachelor’s thesis at Tallinn University on a similar topic. Previously, Ly has worked at SOS Children’s Village, Enterprise Estonia and published a book on beekeeping in cooperation with Tallinn University. Ly is an experienced anthropologist and qualitative researcher and is involved in all projects with social impact, focusing mostly on environmental issues.

Linda Tarto

Linda Tarto has graduated with a BA in English language and literature from the University of Tartu and a Master’s in English literature from the University of York. She has also spent an exchange semester at the College of Charleston in the US and is an experienced translator.

As a consultant at Haap Linda writes for various projects, translates and edits texts, in addition to helping with research and analysis.

Maarja Roon
Maarja Roon has a bachelor’s degree in Government and Politics from Tartu University and master’s degree on Asian society and politics from Tallinn University. During college, she was an exchange student in the United States, and recently studied Korean in South Korea, at the Seoul National University Language Education Institute. She has worked as a journalist and news editor.
In Haap, Maarja writes funding applications and contributes as an analyst in larger R&D projects.

Merle Purre
Merle Purre has a master’s degree in semiotics and cultural theory from the University of Tartu and is currently pursuing doctoral studies in sociology. Merle is particularly interested in health-related topics and has, since her master’s studies, used qualitative and quantitative methods to research attitudes towards mental health and help-seeking. Previously, Merle has worked as a educator, social researcher, and leader of a youth organization.
In Haap, Merle works as an analyst and project manager in various studies.

Liina Uudelt

Liina Uudelt is nearing the completion of her Master’s degree in Sociology at Tallinn University. She previously obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Semiotics and a Master’s degree in Translation Studies from the University of Tartu, which included two years of studies at the University of Hamburg. Liina has professional experience as a journalist, translator, and organizer of academic conferences. Her main areas of interest are education, integration, and media. At Haap, she contributes as an analyst in various research projects.
